how long to boil sex toy
Oh my gosh, I didn’t even know this was a thing! Boiling a sex toy? You just never know what you’re going to learn on the internet these days! I was doing some research on how to deep clean and disinfect my toys and that’s when I found out about boiling. Before I knew it, I was lying awake at night wondering how long it would take to get the job done.
Now, before you laugh, let me just say that it’s important to keep all sex toys clean. I mean, otherwise, things could get nasty and that just isn’t cool. So it’s actually really important to know how to do this right and not just take shortcuts.
Back to boiling for a sec, Penis Rings instead of using chemicals, boiling is a natural and effective way to get rid of any bacteria or other nasties off of your toys. All you need to do is get a pot, some hot water and a timer to make sure you don’t go over the recommended boiling time. Now, that time does depend on the materials of the toy and size but, most of the time, you should boil it for no less than five minutes.
After the time’s up, you need to carefully remove the toy from the pot. Now, if it’s silicone, you should let it cool down in some lukewarm water; otherwise–like with rubber, ABS and plastic–just set them on a clean towel. But really, no matter what kind of material it is, you should always let it completely cool before you start using it again. I mean, you don’t want to burn your sensitive areas, do you?
Now, as far as cleaning goes, boiling is great but you won’t really get a deep clean, you see. Of course, you can’t really do too much scrubbing on these toys, can you? That’s why, after boiling, I thoroughly rinse each and every toy in warm water and then just let them air dry.
If I want to be extra careful, I sometimes add a bit of mild soap–like baby shampoo–to the warm water mix. That way, I don’t even have to worry about any germs or bacteria. And, when it’s all said and done, I just keep the toys in a clean and dry box to ensure they stay clean until I need to use them again.
As you can see, boiling sex toys isn’t too big a deal–especially when you know how to do it right. And it doesn’t take too long either, so no stressing out. Of course, if you want to be extra careful and really give those toys a deep clean, well then, you might want to check out other disinfection methods too.
Moving on, after boiling, it’s great to invest in specific and natural cleansers made specifically for sex toys. You can find all sorts of shapes and sizes that can do the trick. Some come in foam form, others as sprays and you even have wipes that are perfect for quick cleanimg.
These are all super convinient and can go a long way into making sure that your toys are safe and sound to use. I especially love the toyer cleaner by Fleshlight becase it’s made up of entirely natural ingredients–like tea tree oil and peppermint–and smells amazing too!
Also, even for these ready-to-use sprays and such, you should double check on the packaging for the manufacturers’ instructions on how to use these. For instance, some cleaners need to stay on the toy for a certain amount of time, while others just need to be sprayed and rinsed off.
Finally, never forget to store your toys in a cool and dry place, either with the cover on or tucked away in a special bag. This will ensure there are no lint or dust particles accumulating and, to be honest, it just looks a lot better if you can keep your collection tucked away in discreet bags to keep it hidden away from curious eyes.
